Virtual training on major incidents, mass emergencies or natural disasters

XVR is a training software designed to educate and teach tactical and operational professional safety.
The use of an XVR joystick allows rescue professionals to immerse themselves in a virtual reality scenario and act within one or more incidents, to drive emergency vehicles or fly in reconnaissance over the simulated incident. This opportunity allows practitioners to practice observation and assessment of the environment and evolving risk conditions. Hazards are highlighted, it is possible to decide which safety measures to adopt and which procedures to apply, reporting choices to the other members of the rescue team.

During the simulation, students are intentionally distracted by requests for information, continuous environmental stimuli, noise and confusion. These critical conditions help learners acquire and develop mental models and skills that allow them to focus attention on essential tasks and the priorities to be established, in order to maximise rescue outcomes.

An essential feature of XVR   is that the instructor can easily model an incident scenario over which to maintain full control of the course of events developed during the exercise. After operations begin, the instructor can put the student in front of certain questions, asking them to justify their answers regarding the decisions taken. The learner can then show a counter-reaction, for example interacting with the control centre or taking command of a rescue team. The instructor can also respond to the student’s decisions, activating further events within the virtual scenario. They can also decide to optimise training time by advancing to the next phase of intervention on the incident. The flexibility of the tool and the wealth of alternative scenarios leave room for the realisation and verification of any operational hypothesis.

Advantages of XVR

Ability to model and reconstruct any incident scenario. All types of incidents are possible, from a contained event to a large-scale disaster. Virtual on-site training for a specific company is another possible option. The virtual incident can also recreate locations that in reality are difficult to access and complex to manage, such as tunnels or building construction sites.

Active and realistic training method with a high level of empathy.   Students judge an incident recreated in virtual reality as significantly realistic. The stress and tension that develop during an XVR  exercise are absolutely real: because the dilemmas to be faced and the problems to be solved are comparable to what happens in real life. Students receive immediate reactions as the consequences of their decisions are immediately developed and faithfully represented in the virtual reality environment.

Research and recognition of visual signs . XVR  allows students to practise recognising visual signs and identifying hazards. XVR  can also be used to simulate CCTV feeds in chemical installations, in tunnels or inside a stadium, to train operators in the recognition of risks and potential hazards, for example identifying the vulnerable points of an installation or intercepting a suspicious individual hidden in the crowd.

Unlimited practice, whenever desired

XVR Incident Scenarios offers the opportunity to practise whenever and wherever desired. Once a scenario (including scripts) is set up and ready to use, it is possible to dedicate the time no longer needed for development to train again a different student or more students per exercise. XVR supports any type of exercise, repeatable as desired and with any possible objective.

XVR Archive

Users of XVR  have access to an extensive database of 3D models,  containing dozens of three-dimensional environments and hundreds of virtual objects related to the professional universe of security and rescue: special equipment, operators, victims, vehicles, wrecks, fires, substance releases, adverse weather events and objects of other kinds. The archive is constantly updated over time with the addition of new environments and innovative objects.
