Jarvis Safety at Work — Lone Worker & Man-down Protection

What is Jarvis Safety at Work

Jarvis Safety at Work is an application module that turns the operator’s smartphone or mobile device into an active safety tool. Through a combination of periodic check-ins, motion sensors and GPS geolocation, the system monitors each lone worker’s status in real time and automatically triggers emergency procedures in the event of an anomaly or missed response.

All collected data flows into TFS’s Jarvis HSE platform, where supervisory staff have full visibility of positions, operational statuses and field reports — all from a single centralised interface.

Key features

  • Safety check-in — The operator periodically confirms via the app that they are safe. If there is no response within the configured time window, the system automatically initiates a scalable alarm procedure, notifying the relevant managers and the control room.
  • Man-down detection — The accelerometer built into the mobile device automatically detects falls, abnormal positions or prolonged immobility. The alarm is triggered in real time without the operator having to press any button, ensuring timely intervention even in the event of loss of consciousness.
  • Real-time geolocation — The operator’s GPS position is continuously visible on the control room map. In an emergency, rescue teams know exactly where to go, drastically reducing response times.
  • Multimedia field data collection — The operator can send photos, videos and voice notes directly from the app, documenting hazardous conditions, non-conformities or situations requiring attention. The material is immediately available in the Jarvis management system for supervision and archiving.
  • Integration with the Jarvis platform — All safety data (check-ins, alarms, positions, media) integrates automatically with Jarvis HSE. For each alarm type and sender, different recipient groups can be configured.

How it works

The operational flow is simple and non-intrusive for the worker. At the start of a shift, the operator activates the app on their mobile device. From that moment the system works in the background: it monitors movements via the accelerometer, transmits the GPS position and manages automatic check-in cycles according to the frequency configured by the safety manager.

When an anomaly occurs — a missed check-in, detection of a fall or prolonged immobility — the system immediately notifies the control room with the operator’s precise location and the type of event detected. All configuration (check-in frequency, man-down thresholds, notification recipients, operational zones) is managed centrally from Jarvis HSE, with no need to intervene on individual devices.

Alarm management

Alarms generated by mandown devices — automatic (mandown, tilt, immobility) or manual (emergency button press) — are routed to configured recipient groups via the web supervision portal (jarvis.gtsu.org). The system manages an escalation cascade: if the first-level responder does not acknowledge within the configured timeout, the alarm escalates to the next level. All events are timestamped and permanently logged in an immutable audit trail.

Emergency management

When an alarm fires, responders receive: the worker’s identity, alarm type, real-time GPS coordinates, a navigation link, one-tap call to the worker, and one-tap call to emergency services (NUE 112). If the worker is unreachable, the last known GPS position is available to designated supervisors. Access to this function is restricted for privacy reasons and every request is immutably logged.

Jarvis Safety at Work is designed for all organisations where workers operate in conditions of isolation, even partial: manufacturing companies with low-density departments, construction firms and job sites, facility management companies, security operators, maintenance technicians, and logistics and warehouse staff. The system is scalable: it adapts to teams of just a few workers as well as organisations with dozens of workers spread across multiple sites.
