Day-to-day working activities, in any sector, always carry potential risks to the health and safety of workers: awareness of these risks makes it possible to reduce their incidence and considerably limit the resulting harm. Above all, knowledge of these risks enables personnel to respond correctly when unexpected events occur.
Among the most widespread and frequently encountered risks are:
incipient fires, caused by the presence of combustible materials used during operations, by distraction or careless actions on the part of workers, by structural deficiencies or defects in equipment, or by its improper use;
falls from height, a risk inherent in all work carried out at elevation where workers are not provided with appropriate protection or where such protection is used incorrectly;
trauma, injuries and crushing of limbs or larger areas of the body, caused by inattention, negligence, underestimation of the importance of safety systems, haste in carrying out operations, and insufficient preparation and training of personnel;
electrocution, linked to the underestimation of electrical risk.
